Need some direction for that family trip? No time to plan your sabbatical? I love brainstorming with clients to curate a trip with your timeframe, interests and locations in mind. I can do as little or as much as you like, from a 90 minute brainstorm and direction meeting, to flat rate itinerary and plan (up to 6 hours), to full agent booking. Many families come to me with a general idea of country or continent, and we build from there. Together we think through what are interests you, and how to get everyone a little of what they want. How long should you spend in each place, and what’s the best way to move from one to the next? What’s your mix of adventure and relaxation, and where should you splurge or cut back? No package trips with me. Because each family is different, a one-size-fits-all trip doesn’t work; I find what’s just right for you!

“Whitney has now coached us on two big trips – one to Greece and another to Italy/Croatia. Booking international travel would usually be a really stressful experience for me, but Whitney was able to provide valuable itinerary insights on where to go, as well as what to do and see while we were there. She shared great tips on what sites or activities would be must-sees and which we might pass on. She also provided information about options for hotels, restaurants, guides and family-friendly activities and attractions. Whitney is a highly knowledgable resource, and fun to work with. I highly recommend her to anyone planning an international trip.” – Monica Spoelstra Metz, mom of one

RATES

  • Brainstorm and direction session: 90 minutes $150.
  • Basic international trip plan: $300. 1 hour meeting (phone, video, or in-person Portland, Oregon), follow-up email with suggested itinerary, and up to 1 hour additional email exchanges for questions and fine tuning. You book all items.
  • Advanced international trip plan: $750. Includes above plus 4 hours research on hotels/transport/activities. If more than 4 hrs needed (common if I’m doing hotel research and booking), services will be billed hourly. When booking commissionable items (I am a licensed agent), vendor pays commission that I apply to trip planning fees (depending on your budget and how much help you want, this often pays your out-of-pocket fees). However, I find the best rate for you, so sometimes I find a cheaper non-commissionable rate at greater savings than the cost of the trip plan fees. I do the math to get you the best overall price. Happy to further explain if you this is confusing.
  • Hourly Trip Planning: $100/hour. I’ll curate whatever you need … flight and transport options, well-located hotels or rentals for your destinations, activities with booking links, and tour guides. If you choose to book commissionable hotels, cruises, etc, those commissions are paid by vendor and apply to your trip plan fees.
  • I am an agent with InteleTravel so can book hotels, transport, activities for you if you like ($750 commission minimum). I typically don’t book group or packaged tours (which have the highest commissions) because I don’t find them enjoyable, nor do my clients. Instead I do the research to customize your trip. There are commissionable options where the vendor pays and this is applied to your minimum, or if we find your hotels/activities are better priced through non-commissioned options, you will be charged a flat 10% on hotel bookings and 15% on all other bookings. We choose this option when the commissionable options are MORE expensive than the plan fees, so you save MORE than the plan fee in choosing the non-commissionable properties, or when you have a specific property in mind that does not offer a commissionable rate. (I do not book flights because of the myriad options and frequent changes, but happy to suggest and consult for free.)
